Our mission is to develop and enhance an understanding of civic literacy. We provide issue-based advocacy aimed at strengthening the participation of people in our democracy. Our vision is that through intentional connectivity between the arts, civic awareness, workforce development, and engagement with policy-making processes, our community will be able to develop the hard and soft skills to thrive socially and financially.

Braxton Winston II
Founder and Executive Director
Braxton Winston II was the 2024 Democratic nominee for North Carolina's Commissioner of Labor and previously served as an At-Large member and Mayor Pro Tem of Charlotte City Council until December 2023. During his time in public service, he learned that communities thrive when their workforces thrive.
Braxton has a passion to build coalitions of our communities to make sure they are places people want to live and work. He believes we can connect the diversity of our strengths in all of our communities to work together to further our American experiment in democracy.
